Desify Italian: Zucchini tikki

We love our Indian street food and we love Italian too. How about a little fusion street food with a well known Italian ingredient – Zucchini? Here’s a Zucchini Tikki recipe:


2 Zucchini grated

2 potatoes peeled and boiled

2 green chilies chopped

1 tablespoon coriander leaves

3-4 garlic cloves finely chopped

1 inch ginger stick finely chopped

5-6 tablespoons canola oil

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon red chili powder

1 teaspoon chaat masala

1 teaspoon garam masala

1/2 teaspoon cumin

1/2 cup bread crumbs

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon canola oil in a wok and add garlic. Then add grated zucchini and saute for about a minute. Keep it aside till it cools.
  2. In a bowl, mash potatoes and add the zucchini mixture. Mix well.
  3. Add salt, cumin powder, garam masala, chaat masala, red chili powder, coriander leaves, breadcrumbs, green chilies to the potato mix. Mash all the ingredients well together.
  4. Divide the dough into eight equal portions and shape them into tikkis (patties).
  5. Heat the oil in a pan and place tikkis. Shallow fry them flipping them time to time till both sides are evenly done.
  6. Serve hot with Jalapeno chutney.
